Reading install credit when the same campaign hits both stores

Printed charts and a notebook on a wooden desk

When one creative runs on both the App Store and Google Play, install credit often arrives in different shapes. Android may carry a referrer string; iOS may only return a coarse conversion value. Teams that sum both store totals as if they were identical users inflate the picture.

Start by separating first opens from redownloads. Then align lookback windows so a late click on one store does not steal credit from an earlier organic browse on the other. Keep a shared calendar of campaign start and stop times; many mismatches are simply timezone or midnight cut-off differences.

A practical habit: export both store reports for the same UTC day range, mark paid versus organic columns consistently, and only then compare. If your measurement partner and the store console disagree by more than a few points, treat that gap as a finding for an attribution audit rather than a rounding quirk.
